Our Story
My name is Jonathan and I am British. Eight years ago, tired of the grey skies, the rising costs, and the feeling that life was happening somewhere else, I did something that everyone around me thought was slightly mad. I packed up and moved to Medellín, Colombia.
I did not know a soul here. My Spanish was terrible. I had no roadmap, no guide, and no idea what I was doing half the time. I made mistakes, learned hard lessons, and slowly built a life that I genuinely love. One neighbourhood, one conversation, one discovery at a time. A life that is richer, warmer, more connected, and a fraction of the cost of what I left behind.
Eight years on, Medellín is home in every sense of the word. I know its rhythms, its people, its hidden streets, and its bureaucracy. I have watched this city transform into one of the most exciting places in the world to live. And I have watched the world slowly start to notice.
What breaks my heart a little is how many Americans I meet who want this. People who are exhausted by the cost of living, the pressure, the feeling that the life they imagined is slipping further out of reach. They give up on the idea because it feels too complicated, too risky, or too unknown. That is exactly the problem The Colombian Dream Co. exists to solve.
My vision is simple. I want to help people live better lives. Not just cheaper lives but genuinely better ones. More time with family. More freedom to work on what matters. More joy in the everyday. Colombia gave me all of that. I know it can do the same for the right people and I want to be the person who helps them get there safely and confidently, without the mistakes I made figuring it out alone.
